The City of Liverpool
is
undergoing a social, cultural, and economic renaissance,
following
the difficult times of the Toxteth riots in 1981.
While
many urban problems remai:n,
the
City offers a rich, vibrant, urban and seaport experience,
with
a huge cultural variety from the National Museums and Galleries on Merseyside
(including
the Slavery Museum, within the Maritime Museum)
to the Beatles (who
have a museum devoted to them: the Carnatic Halls are near Penny Lane!)
to the Walker Art
Gallery and Tate Liverpool,
and outstanding
secular and sacred architecture
(including one of
the fmest Synagogues in Europe).
